missing a trachea

It's just insane what we do for our pets. I broke down this past week and bought my dog a pig's ear. Seriously. She got all the way through her bath at Petco (without pooping b/c of being so nervous) so I bought her a treat. A pig's ear is a serious treat b/c that is just foul. And yes, the last time I paid someone to bathe her they called me to come back and get her b/c she pooped everywhere. Gross I know, but how said is it that she gets that nervous? And Morgan wants me to submit our adoption story to CAS as a success story - ha! She devoured the pig's ear in minutes so I bought her a new treat last night - a freaking Bull Trachea or "Moo Tube."

My first choice for frames were $40 each and then second choice were $18 each...I found the following at TJ Maxx for $9.99 each. Now I just have to decide where to hang them. :)

Also, here are my fresh flowers this week.

The two vases/bottles on the left were thrift store purchases at 25 cents each. The one on the right was a birthday present from my friend Jenny. Flowers were $3.00 and they make me happy.

One more thing - still watching the first season of True Blood and there was a Cat Power song in one of the episodes I watched last night. Hopefully you all have been listening to her for a while now...but if not, do.

well i was rewarded

Don't you love it when you do something good and actually get rewarded for it? Well, since I was good and stayed away from McDs last night I weighed in at WW today and I had lost another 3 lbs. Go me! Also - I decided to start with True Blood and move on to Mad Men later. I watched 2.5 episodes last night and am hoping to fly through season one so that I can finally gossip with everyone about it.

By the way, Sookie's accent might drive me insane. :)

anyone notice anything strange about my new "sofa"?

Drove my roommate's big truck (I felt so cool!) out to West Ashley and picked up my new sofa from Leslie. All the way home I thought about how nice it was going to be to sit on the sofa and watch tv tonight. Got home and it was too big. Wouldn't fit through the doorway at the bottom of the stairs leading to my room. So, I am still stuck with this little chair and am now on a mission to find a sofa that will work.

On another note, Sandy's parents gave me their extra tv b/c they didn't have anywhere to store it. It is much bigger than the one I have so I was really excited. Got the (heaviest) tv up the stairs and it's too big for my entertainment center.

I am 0 for 2.

Also, I felt great all day again today and now my throat is killing me again. What is going on? Oh well, I did go to the grocery store just now instead of drowning my sorrows at McDonalds so I am now going to go put my fresh flowers in a vase. I am now smiling. :)

So, I was finally feeling better yesterday and then did too much. I was up at 6:30am this morning (believe it or not) to participate in a community yard sale, ran some errands (code for shopping) in West Ashley, went to UO downtown and then lunch. I came home to "rest" and when I got up thought I might die. My throat is so swollen, I am stuffy again and I have lost my voice. WTF? How does that happen when I was feeling just fine earlier?! So, I am now missing out on drinks with friends that I haven't hung out with in a long time and I am pretty stinky about it.

On to the hot tea...

I don't like it. But wish I did. Anyone have any suggestions?
I just made some green tea but had to dump way too much honey in it just to make it tolerable.

Which one do I start with? I have heard nothing but great things about both shows but geez almighty I can only be addicted to a few things at a time!

Not sure if you remember this post about getting someone to help me turn some pictures of mine into pop art - but here they are!

Next step is to find frames for them. I fell in love with the frame below from CB2 but I just can't pay $40 a frame for them.I finally found the one below at Ikea for only $18 but you can't buy it online. There is no Ikea near me. I guess I could call them and ask them to ship them to me? Anyone have any other recommendations? It has to be a square gallery frame. Unfortunately, my mind is set on that.

On another note - will be looking for new bedding soon as my poor dog's paw just bled all over mine. And yes I am saying poor dog b/c it's my fault! I cut her nail too short. Way too short.

We are a sad pair tonight for sure. I have tissues sitting next to me and a trashcan full of used ones. Not sure if it's allergies or a cold but it stinks. My nose is raw.

fostering with CAS

I am on the foster list at Charleston Animal Society. I have only fostered one dog for them before, but will hopefully be able to work with them again in the future. These are some pics I just received of kittens and a dog that needs a foster home. Aren't they so cute?

It breaks my heart. I hope they all find good homes!

I can't pretend that I just found this by chance. So, before I am off to do something I have been putting off for quite some time...I have to tell that you heads are about to roll! My brother has been telling me almost every day for the last 2.5 weeks that he is going to come down to Charleston and pick up my stuff that needs to be stored in Columbia. Since this is a big favor to me I have tried not to harrass him more than 3 times a day. ;) But, he said he was definitely coming today. I called him all day. No answer. So, finally I get in touch with him and he is cutting out paths in the woods to get ready for deer season. Heads are going to roll.

The table above was a thrift store purchase for $5.99 and it's perfect. I am planning to paint it red with my Glidden paint from this post.

The paint color on the walls was not quite what I expected. I got what I thought was a deeper shade for the bed nook area, but it sure turned out bright! I am going to let it go for now and see if I can get used to it. If not, I will just paint it another color. :)

This pitcher/vase was also a thrift store purchase for only 65 cents. It needs to be cleaned up but it's currently doing a fine job serving it's purpose.
The dresser will also be painted white.

My precious Maddie Moo. She has not been a happy camper lately with the storms we have had. Can you tell?

Also, forgot to tell you that the above picture is what I am going to look like when I am done with WeightWatchers. Look out!

back on the wagon

Well, I joined WeightWatchers today. Again.

It really does work. The reason I didn't stick with it last time had nothing to do with the diet. I just got lazy.

So...it's off to the store for me. I need to get a few things to get started but I also want to start buying organic and more natural foods. No more artificial sweetners, etc. That part is all new for me. Anyone have any suggestions??
