We spayed and neutered 171 dogs and cats between Friday and Saturday. And all for free! It's our mission and because of grants we are able to offer this to our community.
We can adopt out as many as humanly possible, but the only way to put an end to homeless animals is to get them all spayed and neutered. We drove vans out to a designated area at 4:00am and picked up animals, brought them to the shelter for surgery and them drove them back out to their owners. Two days in a row, our staff rocks. I may not like my job on a daily basis (today especially) but that's the politics of it. I love the animals and I love the staff at the shelter. I also love my volunteers. :)
Awww, that's so great! I volunteer at the Humane Society here in Jacksonville, FL and am on my last leg of courses for a Veterinary Assistant certification. Thank you for all you do for the animals! :)
ReplyDeleteA big kudos for the grant to do something as wonderful. I wish more cities would do the same. I agree if we don't stop this, the circle will continue.
ReplyDeleteThere is a group in our county, that works with stray cats. They give a safe trap to volunteers to catch the cat, so they can bring it in to be fixed. Then one ear of the cat is clipped and they are brought back to where they were originally picked up.
Thank you for the wonderful job you and your group does. xo
Wish I could adopt them all, Great work
ReplyDeleteThese pictures break my heart! I'm so glad to hear of this type of work. Honestly, I think I would spend the day crying after seeing their sad little eyes!
